CN2000® is a non-toxic capillary crystalline waterproofing material used as a surface coating.
CN2000® is environmentally-friendly, containing no poison, odour or pollution. It is a permanent, revolutionary waterproofing solution for concrete structures. Waterproof CN2000® is an ISO 9001, GB/T I9001 certified product. CN2000® is targeted at protecting architectural structures, preventing the concrete from being carbonized and the reinforcing steel bars from being rusted and eroded as a result of water intrusion, chloride penetration, corrosion and freezing and thawing, prolonging the useful life of structures and reducing repairs and maintenance costs. CN2000® can be used in the active flow of water, as well as, applied on a damp surface. While traditional techniques treat only the surface of the concrete, are costly and don’t last indefinitely, CN2000® crystalline waterproofing provides a permanent solution.


In the course of developing the waterproof materials, specific technology and science of the nuclear industry was relied upon. The waterproof materials have eka-molecule sieve structure and permeation crystalline effects. The waterproof layer will not only achieve ventilation, have the effect of impermeability to water, but also have high impervious pressure.


The CN2000® cementitious crystalline waterproof mixture prevents leaks and permeation to engineering structures by adhering to the concrete as an integral part of the structure using crystallines to block pores as well as, achieving self-rehabilitation.


There are several methods used to apply CN2000®, including surface trowel coating, brush coating, mechanical spray coating and pressure grouting. All are adaptive to the various waterproof and anti-corrosive products of both above ground and under ground building structures.


Before a waterproofing project is undertaken, we conduct an investigation on-site to obtain sufficient information so that a comprehensive plan to drain, block and prevent the leakage can be developed. Some signs of a leaky basement are very obvious and others are not so obvious. Of course the most obvious sign of water leaking is water everywhere or pools of water on the floor! You might also actually hear the water dripping or staring at big ugly brown stains spreading across your walls. Sometimes you can even smell the water particularly if it is tainted by sewage or tainted by pesticides. Sometimes leaky water also has the heavy musky smell of fresh soil as often water leaking through a bad basement foundation will also be carrying a lot of silt with it.

There are also lots of other clues that you have a leaky basement. One sign of a leaky basement that is often just interpreted as aging or fading is the presence of efflorescence. Efflorescence is a deposit of a thin white film on your wall. It is the residue left by water that contains minerals and other effluvia from the soil.

Dampness is of course a big sign that you have a leaky basement but you should also look for other signs such as rusting nails or metal fixtures, rotting wood near the floor level, rusted metal feet on appliances, lifted floor tiles and peeling paint. All of these signs are not necessarily indicative of big disaster however it is possibly an indication that your home is suffering some kind of leakage during a rainy or wet season.

Sometimes the leaky basement is not due to some sort of vulnerability in your basement foundation. Sometimes it is caused by breaks in your water supply lines or pipes. Even a small seam or crack in a pipe can cause a big pool of water to form on your basement floor. Yet another big culprit is sinks and toilets that constantly drip as the result of a loose joint or loose pipe. Often this type of water collects beneath a cupboard in which the actual plumbing works are concealed.

There is almost always a little bit of leakage around the places where pipes enter the home. This is because of condensation on the pipes forming dew. To prevent this type of water leaking into your house (and first make sure that it is not the pipe itself that is leaking or your efforts will be futile) you can patch it with a waterproof concrete patch. Keep in mind that this will not prevent the water from forming from behind the walls. The only thing that might prevent that is the installation of a dehumidifier. Dehumidifiers can be an important tool in your battle against basement moisture and molds but not if the moisture is actually due to water seepage as opposed to water condensation.

There is a very easy way to determine if water on your basement walls is due to condensation or seepage. Simply tape a piece of aluminum foil to your basement wall. After a few days inspect its surfaces. If there is moisture on the inside surface that was touching the wall then you are dealing with a leak. If moisture forms on the aluminum foil side that is facing out from the wall then the problem is condensation and can easily be dealt with by a dehumidifier.

The good news is that condensation is a lot easier to manage than leaking water. Although it is persistent the excess humidity is manageable. Exposure to sunlight and wind can help dry out a basement that is dripping with condensation. It is also a good idea to keep basement windows closed if you live in a climate that is overly humid or that has a heavy rainy season.

Basement, because of its below grade position, is vulnerable to water seepage. Water intrusion is perhaps the single biggest compaint people voice about foundation walls. Statistics tell us that basement leakage is the most common problem found in houses, over 90% of all basements will leak and suffer damage at one time or another. Some evidence of moisture penetration can be found in almost every house. A house with water problems does not necessarily mean it was poorly constructed. Water can appear in even the most well-built home. Not all basement leakage problems are solvable, but, the majority of leakage problems can be solved by directing surface water away from the building, by regrading around the foundation or/and using downspout extension to force rain water to flow away from the house.

During an inspection, Ontario home inspector examines basement and crawl spaces, looking for clues that indicate a history of basement leaks and looks closely at the area around the house for conditions that can cause water to accumulate around the foundation. Home inspectors recommend preventive measures that the homeowner can take to minimize the chance of water getting to the interior.

Unfortunately, wet basements cannot be assessed for their severity, frequency, and inconvenience factor during a one time visit. There may or may not be clues that indicate a history of basement dampness. Visible signs may be concealed by new paint or storage piled against the area. If there has been a dry period before the time of the inspection, signs of past water penetration may not be visible. Even if visible, the clues usually do not give an indication of the severity or frequency.

Take the time to educate yourself prior to bringing in a professional for an evaluation and you will profit through a higher quality solution. Do an exterior wall check for surface water next to foundation walls. Water overflowing your rain gutters often runs down house foundations, eroding soil or leaking into basements. Here are some things to look for:

Overflowing rain gutters, blocked with leaves or debris.
Not enough gutter downspouts on the house, water overflowing from too much volume.
Water down spouts discharging right next to house walls, not extended far enough away.
Ground around houses should slope away from foundation walls.

 No obvious surface water leaks mean that sources are groundwater under hydrostatic pressure. If external ground water level is above basement floor level, basements act like a boat in a lake, where moisture will force its way in through any crack or weak point. Groundwater hydrostatic pressure forces seepage in, even with a hairline crack.

Symptoms are weeping cracks or leaks in multiple locations.

What causes a leaking basement?
